Lassipora gunfight : Police version
Srinagar : The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday issued a statement regarding the killing of four militants, who were killed after gunfight broke out between militants and goverment forces in Lassipora area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
A police spokesman in a statement issued said that, during searches militants fired upon the search party. The fire was retaliated leading to an encounter.
“In the ensuing encounter, four militants were killed and the bodies were retrieved from the encounter site.
The spokesman said that, the identification of the militants and affiliations are being ascertained.
“In the initial exchange of fire three army jawans and one policeman sustained injuries. They have been hospitalised for the treatment of their injuries and are stated to be stable,” spokesman said.
“Pertinently with the efforts of police and security forces, it was a clean operation and no collateral damage happened during the encounter,” he added.
“Incriminating material including arms and ammunition was recovered from the site of encounter. Police has registered a case,” he said.
“Citizens are requested not to venture inside encounter zone since such an area can prove dangerous due to stray explosive materials. People are requested to cooperate with police till the area is completely sanitized and cleared of all the explosive materials if any,” police spokesman said in a statement.
