Srinagar police arrested three drug peddlers
Srinagar : Srinagar police on Monday arrested three persons in Zewan area along with a huge quantity of codeine phosphate.
The Police spokesman in a statement issued here said that, Three persons were arrested during Naka checking at Zewan in Srinagar for drug supply offences and have been taken to Police Station Pantha Chowk where they remain in custody.
“This is a part of proactive action initiated by Srinagar police against the drug peddlers of Central Kashmir,” said a spokesman.
“Officers have seized 300 bottles of codeine phosphate from their possession,” he said.
Case FIR No 15/2019 under relevant sections has been registered in Police Station Pantha Chowk and investigation has been taken up, the police spokesman said .
Police urged community members to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighborhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law, he added.
“Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace,” the spokesman said in a statement.
