Political advertisements barred prior 48 hours of polling: MCMC B’la
Baramulla : According to Nodal officer, Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC) Baramulla, all the political parties, contesting candidates and news agencies of Baramulla Parliamentary Constituency are informed that publication of any kind of political advertisements in print media has been barred as per the circular issued by the Election Commission of India (ECI).
Accordingly, a circular issued by the ECI vide communication No. 491/MCMC/2019, dated; 06.04.2019, has barred political parties, candidates or any other organization or person from publishing advertisements in print media on the poll day and one day prior to poll day unless the contents of the political advertisements are pre certified by them from the MCMC established at the district level.
Pertinent to mention that the election for 1-Baramulla Parliamentary Constituency is going to be held in the first phase on 11th of April, 2019. The restrictions shall be on 10th (one day prior to the poll day) and 11th of April, 2019 (poll day).
The circular has been issued to ensure that no untoward incident takes place due to any inflammatory, misleading or hate advertisement in the last stage of the election process. Further the affected candidates or parties will not have any opportunity of providing clarification / rebuttal in such cases.
