Baramulla villages reels under darkness, inhabitants suffer
Baramulla: The inhabitants of Dolipora, Kawacheck, Waripora in Baramulla district are up in arms against the Power Development Department (PDD) for resorting to unscheduled power cuts in the area.
The unscheduled power cuts have not only been reported from the non-metered areas, but the metered areas too are facing frequent power cuts especially during the peak hours.
“Every day we face the problem of unscheduled power cuts. In days as well as evening hours we have to grope in darkness as for maximum hours of the day the power supply remains snapped,” said a resident Mushtaq Ahmad.
” Before few years PDD installed meters in our village, we thought it will help us a bit to see proper light , but unfortunately the power supply remains erratic as it was earlier, authorities fail to stick to there own schedule that they notify from time to time, “ added Mushtaq .
While Power Development Department attributes the erratic power supply to the villages including Dolipora, Kawacheck, Waripora, Dardapora, Sheikh pora and many other villages of the area, the residents blame the department for the crisis.
Despite increase in power tariff there is no visible improvement in the power scenario.
A PDD official , who wished anonymity, blamed the employees of Watergam station for resorting to unscheduled cuts.
