Srinagar-Baramulla train service suspended

Srinagar: Srinagar-Baramulla train services have been suspended as a precautionary measure on Monday following massive protests against the rape of a 3-year-old girl in Sumbal area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district.

“We have suspended train services between Srinagar-Baramulla in north Kashmir for security reasons,” a railway official said.

Therefore, he said, no train will chug on Srinagar-Baramulla track .

However, trains will continue to chug on Budgam-Srinagar-Islamabad – Qazigund in south Kashmir to Banihal to Jammu region as per schedule, he said.

Earlier, today, Governor Satya Pal Malik has expressed shock and pain over the extremely heinous incident of rape of a 3-year-old girl from Bandipora district.

Governor immediately spoke to Sh. S.P. Pani, IGP Kashmir and took detailed review of the ongoing investigations into the case.

He directed the IGP to work swiftly in the case and ensure that the culprit gets exemplary punishment for this shameful act.
