Brief exchange of gunfire after forces lay siege to Anantnag village, clashes erupt

Srinagar: Militants and the security forces exchanged a brief gunfight during a search operation in Dehruna Dialgam area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Saturday morning.
A Police official said that a joint team of army’s 19 RR, Jammu Kashmir Police and CRPF had jointly laid siege around the area following an input about Militant presence in the area.
As soon as the government forces started the search operations, the hiding militants fired upon government forces, to which the forces retaliated, he said.
As soon as the firing was heard, hundreds of local youth hit the streets and threw stones on government Forces who responded with tear smoke shells.
Eyewitness said that , the clashes were going on in the area, whe this report was filed.
